Jinshan has rich and large farmland, and dense water network, called ¡®the
barn of Shanghai¡¯. Due to good weather and advantageous natural conditions, it
produces abundantly rice, fruits, vegetables, pork, fish and shrimp, poultry and
egg, and sea food. Its two key industries are vegetables for export and
high-quality water melon, and its five industrial bases are grape, peach,
strawberry, flower and young trees, and edible fungoid. A few leaders of
industry have been developed, Yin Long Vegetable Processing Plant, for example.
The Ding Shi Hoof of Fengjin and yellow wine are its world famous
specialties.
Jinshan is the supply base of Shanghai for agricultural products.
Jinshan Modern Agricultural Park, which is currently being built, has a total
planned area of 48 square kilometers, being one of the city¡¯s modern
agricultural production zone. With an objective of having high-tech, high
proficiency, good scenery, famous brands, and capable talents, it will be
constructed as a new modern agricultural base that integrates planting,
breeding, processing, displaying, training, tourism, and international
communications, with the characteristic of being able to provide first-class
seeds, facilities and making profits. ¡¡¡¡ Quite a few commercial
distributors scatter in the district. They are Rui Xin, New Petrochemical,
Agriculture, Industry and Commerce Department Store, Hua Lian, Lian Hua
Supermarket, Jinshanwei Comprehensive Market. There are 36 supermarkets, 42
professional markets, and 45 franchised shops in the district, with 1.39 square
meters¡¯ area per capita. Shi An Hai Sheng Hotel built by the sea, and Jinshan
Hotel provide places for accommodation and shopping, business trade and
negotiation, and entertaining.
